Equipment Review: Wilson Staff Dh6 Distance Hybrid, by Jeffrey Reed

I’ve always been a big fan of Wilson Staff’s Nano Tech shafts, but I’ve just recently discovered the perfect club for showcasing that shaft’s technology: the Wilson Staff Dh6 Distance Hybrid. This is the most dynamic duo since Batman and Robin, and the Dh6 packs a lot more punch, too.

Nano Tech shafts utilize nanotechnology for incredible strength and stability. Minute particles are embedded from tip to grip to provide outstanding stability and lighter weight than comparable shafts. The result? One of the most consistent graphite shafts ever produced.

Add the Dh6 Distance Hybrid clubhead, and you have a lethal weapon literally effective from tee to green. I’m really sold on the fact, it’s the combination of the head and the shaft that make this hybrid from Wilson Staff one of the very best ever to hit the market. In fact, it’s probably Wilson Staff’s best club amongst its 2006 offerings.

Much-improved over the 2005 hybrid, Wilson Staff’s Dh6 features internal back sole weight which moves the CG lower for a better launch angle. ETF (Energy Transfer Frame) Technology redirects energy back to the club face, effectively doubling the max COR hot zone. Add the Nano Tech shaft, and you have a winner that’s both long and accurate.

I tested the 19-degree Dh6 with stiff 82 g Nano Tech shaft, which feels like it was made for a hybrid club. The ball flies straight and high, and the club promotes a sense of confidence from the moment you grip it. It definitely has a solid feel that just feels right for this hybrid.

Wilson Staff has worked hard to get back into the game of high-end golf gear. The Dh6 Distance Hybrid will win Wilson a lot of fans. I put it up against any hybrid on the market, and I would feel comfortable putting it in the hands of any golfer, from touring professionals to high-handicappers. Try it for yourself.
