Fashion Accessory Review:
Rudy Project Eyewear, by Jeffrey Reed

When sunwear and Rx eyewear manufacturer Rudy Project labels its products “Technically Cool Eyewear,” it’s right on the money. Now with eight offerings in its golf/tennis line, Rudy Project is setting a new standard amongst high performance eyewear designed to help your game from tee to green.
Rudy Project may not be able to hit great shots for you, but this company which offers eyewear, goggles and helmets to the sports industry will certainly help provide you with crystal-clear vision on the course. Functional, lightweight, comfortable – and sharp looking, too – Rudy Project’s golf eyewear is a winner.
Rudy Barbazza, a pioneer in the Italian sunglass and sporting goods industry, founded Rudy Project in 1985. Today, the company is a leader in the design and manufacturing of hi-tech sunglasses, goggles, helmets and accessories. It uses cutting-edge computer technology when creating its aesthetically pleasing, pure performance eyewear.
We sampled the Kalyos Golf golf eyewear from the Golf/Tennis line. What makes these glasses stand out from the pack are the interchangeable lenses. The Golf/Tennis 100 lenses, with a slight green tint, provide “a unique balance of target and background brightness,” says Rudy Project. “The transmission of 25 per cent was tailored to accommodate for grass reflecting only a low amount on incident light. While controlling low-level blue light, the middle range is selectively manipulated to provide optimum visual stimulation and distinctive ‘object illumination.’”
What does this mean? Crystal-clear vision, UV protection, and style. The same goes for the interchangeable Racing Red lenses, included as a second pair of lenses with the Kalyos and all glasses within the Golf/Tennis line. The Racing Red option offers “high optical quality lenses in high definition Polycarbonate, treated with rich multi-layered coatings to enhance visual depth and eliminate eye fatigue. The Racing Red lens was engineered for serious athletes and ‘techno files.’ Light transmission is 28 per cent.”
The Racing Red lenses are great performers, too. In fact, both lenses offered me some of the clearest views of the golf course I have ever seen. Kudos to Rudy Project for its ingenuity in design. It really has broken new ground on the eyeglass front. And with an Rx capability, using a revolutionary optical clip on adapter – or the new RXDirect in Frame Interchangeable solution – the Kalyos Golf glasses offer even more options for the concerning golfer.
Rudy Project eyewear has recently joined forces with Audace Lunettes to form an exclusive partnership within the Canadian optical market. The partnership is another example of Rudy Project’s commitment to its growing Rudy Project Authentic Sun Rx Program in Canada.
Two thumbs up for the Kalyos eyeglasses – possibly the best we’ve sampled. The frames are ultra-modern and extremely lightweight, and the lenses are cutting-edge. Looking for cool eyewear that doesn’t ignore performance? Look no further than Rudy Project – designer and manufacturer of “Technically Cool Eyewear.” Visit www.rudyprojectusa.com for more information on all of Rudy Project’s offerings.
