Accessory Review: ProHands Hand Exerciser
by Jeffrey Reed, Editor, LondonOntarioGolf.com
Musicians do it. Doctors do it. So do marksmen. And today, golfers are also cluing into the importance of strengthening their hands, wrists and forearms.
ProHands, manufacturer of the world’s leading hand exerciser, the GripMaster (reviewed here at London Ontario Golf) has just released its Pro apparatus. Based on the same principles as the GripMaster, the Pro hand exerciser is the company’s most advanced exerciser.
The perfect addition to the ProHands line, which includes the entry-level Via grip accessory, the Pro accessory features a larger profile, superior steel springs which resist wear and tear and an integrated ergonomic palm bar for improved comfort. It’s available in three tensions: Medium (7 lbs.), Heavy (9 lbs.) and Extra Heavy (11 lbs.).
Today, hand specialists recommend lower tension and more repetitions, rather than higher tension and fewer repetitions when exercising hands. The Pro exerciser fits the bill perfectly. As with the GripMaster, the Pro exerciser permits a number of exercise programs – there are 11 of them offered at the company web site. Isolating and strengthening each finger individually is a big plus with ProHands’s Pro exerciser. The results? Added power, dexterity and endurance.
I’ve used the GripMaster for over a year, and have seen much improvement in my hands, wrists and forearms. That makes a big difference on the course. This time around, the Pro exerciser has been added to my exercise regimen. I use it when I’m watching a movie (and not reaching for the popcorn), and during breaks from typing. Not only does it work the hands, fingers, wrists and forearms, but it also helps release tension from overused muscles and tendons.
The new Pro exerciser from ProHands is available online at ProHands.net, through Amazon.com, and at many golf pro shops and retailers. Suggested retail price: $20.
Thumbs up to the new Pro exerciser from ProHands. If you’re serious about golf, then you’ll give it a try. But remember to wipe the hot butter off your hands before gripping the Pro.
