Fashion Accessory Review:
PeakVision Sports ELO Sunglasses
by Jeffrey Reed

I have a confession to make: David Feherty and I are cut from the same mold. Yes, we’re both of Irish descent, and have a unique sense of humour. But there’s more: We both wear PeakVision Sports sunglasses.

Now, PeakVision introduces its lightest model ever produced: The ELO model, featuring a titanium frame, and all of the top-notch features respected by amateurs and touring pros alike.

Some background: The material used in these golf-specific glasses was originally developed for the windscreens in military helicopters. PeakVision’s patented Dual-Zone technology, 100-per-cent distortion-free sunglasses offer a better view of the game from tee to green. Here’s how they work: The Dual-Zone lenses feature neutral-density grey tinting in the upper zone that reduces glare and allows for accurate distance perception. The amber-tuned colour in the lower zone highlights the contours of the green for better reads of putts than with the naked eye. Incorporating two filters into one lens allows golfers to distinguish between the turf and the sky, creating optimal vision.

The new ELO model is stunningly stylish. The ELO Narrow weighs just 11.1 grams, while the ELO Regular weighs in at a “whopping” 12.8 grams, and is perfect for those who prefer larger lenses. Don’t let these lightweight glasses fool you: They are heavyweights in the performance ring. Three-piece rimless construction nose pads with a wear-resistant centre core wrapped in soft, allergy-free silicone is a real plus. There are two colour options: Matte Black, and Aztec Bronze.

The Dual-Zone lenses are also designed to fight against harmful UVA, UVB and UVC rays. Combine this with better reads for the flat stick, and it’s no wonder why PGA Tour pros Billy Andrade and Scott McCarron, Champions Tour pros Bruce Fleisher, and LPGA Tour pros Moira Dunn, Mikaela Parmlid, Beth Bader, Jean Bartholomew, Becky Morgan and Heather Young wear PeakVision sunglasses. It is rumoured that Feherty has been fine tuning his game and is about to launch the All-Comedian Golfer Tour – how’s this for a foursome: Feherty, Bill Murray, George Lopez, and Seann William Scott aka Steve Stifler.

OK, so we’re stuck with Feherty in the broadcast booth, but at least he’s smart enough to wear PeakVision Sports sunglasses. If you’re smart, you’ll wear them, too.

The ELO line retails at $229 US ($469 US for the Rx version). For more information on PeakVision Sports, visit www.peakvisionsports.com.
