Review: Nike SP-6 II Golf Shoe
by Jeffrey Reed
Nike Golf’s new SP-6 II shoe is more than just footwear: it’s a high-tech machine. Think I’m exaggerating? Take a peak, try them on, then tell me whether or not these shoes will help improve your game.
I’ve written before about how my special-needs feet require comfortable shoes which fit tightly around my ankles without strangling my swing. I require a shoe which allows me to walk 18 hilly holes without developing blisters, yet looks good at the bar and grill at the 19th. The Nike SP-6 II shoe is just what the doctor ordered.
The good folks at Nike passed along the new black and topaz shoes (gee they’re good – I don’t remember telling them I’m a Pittsburgh Pirates fan). How can you not feel like an athletic golfer wearing these puppies? The only thing they’re missing is a steering wheel and mag wheels.
Boasting premium full-grain leather, and a two-year limited waterproof warranty, the SP-6 II shoes offer a triple threat of performance, athleticism and traditionalism. They look great and feel even better on your feet. Here’s why.
The SP-6 II golf shoes from Nike with WaterShield Plus construction provide proven waterproof protection. A visible heel Air-Sole unit, plus Phylon midsole, deliver lightweight, long-term cushioning and comfort. The T@C4 (Traction At Contact) TPU outsole technology delivers maximum grip with minimum damage to the green. Scorpion Stinger Spikes (my soft spikes of choice, incidentally – these things put a death grip on turf) with Q-LOK fastening system are a real plus. A sport-inspired SP-7 RT Last offers a full forefoot area, rounded toe shape, and sculpted arch for great feel and fit. The full-length Poron sockliner moulds to the contour of the foot for ultimate comfort and durability – even for those golfers with special-needs feet like me.
Still not convinced these shoes will help shave strokes off your game? Then visit your local golf retailer and try on a pair today – you’re feet will thank you. The SP-6 II golf shoe from Nike retail for $159. For more information, visit www.nike.com/nikegolf.
