Equipment Review: Nike Golf Juice 312 Ball
by Jeffrey Reed

Here’s what I love about Nike Golf. Sure, it’s a hip brand – hey, Tiger plays Nike Golf equipment, right? It’s an innovative company and a proven winner on Tour. But most of all, Nike knows how to have fun with the game.

Enter the new Nike Golf Juice 312 ball. It’s long – very long – and it’s soft around the greens. And the Juice 312 is marketed in a fun manner.

“Ginormous hugantic distance!” reads Juice 312 material. “Dosage: Start with one Juice ball in the morning. Take with black coffee. Will take effect immediately after stretching and wagering are complete. Do take Juice and drive.”

Only Nike Golf director of ball creation, Rock Ishii, demonstrates as much creativity as the Nike marketing team. In the Juice 312 golf ball, Ishii has designed a ball which compliments low to mid swing speeds. It’s a two-piece ball featuring a low dimple count of 312 – an all-time low dimple count amongst all Nike Golf balls. Combined with a high velocity core, the Juice 312 provides maximum carry, minimal drag, and thus greater distance.

This is one heck of a two-piece ball – the best I’ve tested, in fact. It is very long, yet performs admirably around the greens. I found it particularly effective on long- and mid-irons. The Shore D 65 cover provides extra energy to overall ball velocity, but still maintains adequate spin off irons. The high-velocity, low-compression core increases ball speed, yet reduces spin off the driver.

Priced at just $24.99 per dozen, the Nike Golf Juice 312 should win over the crowd playing balls including the Titleist DT SoLo and Precept Laddie. As Nike Golf states, the Juice 312 ball “gets you higher and straighter with more carry. Not available in chewable form.”
