Equipment Review:
Nickent Golf 4DX Fairway Wood
by Jeffrey Reed, Editor, LondonOntarioGolf.com

Remember Nike's Bo Jackson ad campaign, "Bo Knows (fill in the sport)?" Although Nickent is far from a one-dimensional golf club manufacturer, if there is one thing Nickent knows, it's fairway woods and hybrids. And in the Nickent Golf 4DX fairway wood, we have discovered a gem.

Last month, we reviewed the new Nickent Golf 5DX Ironwood, with an incredible MOI of 3130. If you've been living on another planet, MOI is the acronym for Moment Of Inertia. In the clubhead, it defines how much you can control the club without twisting. A high MOI means greater stability, great forgiveness.

Like the 5DX Ironwood, Nickent's 4DX fairway wood has MOI in spades. It's one of the very best fairway woods we have tested. Here's why.

Billed as Nickent's "most advanced fairway wood ever," the 4DX fairway wood uses a super thin 0.4 mm titanium crown, making it a cinch to hit penetrating shots with soft landings. After putting this club to the test, I concur. By reducing weight in the crown, and inserting its patented XW weights, Nickent has produced what I feel is the perfect fairway metal for today's modern golf game. The deep face is another key to shotmaking, which utilizes a large sweet spot for reduced spin and forgiveness.

The XW inserts really are a breakthrough in golf club manufacturing. A polymer insert helps dampen vibration, too, while the 16 g of the weights provides straighter shotmaking without the need for bulky screws and concurrently avoiding an undesirable feeling at impact. I also like the small "N" on the crown's centre which helps with alignment. But what I like most is the flat sole and deep face which allows for solid shotmaking from a variety of lies.

Quite simply, this fairway wood was a treat to test. I hit the 15° 3-wood with a stiff SR3 shaft from UST. It's also available as a 13° strong 3-wood (RH only), RH 17° 4-wood, 19-degree 5-wood and 21-degree 7-wood. Shaft option includes UST Proforce V2.

In the rough, off the tee or off the deck, the 4DX fairway wood from Nickent Golf is a winner.

And yes, Nickent knows golf. To see for yourself, visit http://nickentgolf.com.
