Equipment Review: Ti-Carbon Driver from Feel Golf Company, by Jeffrey Reed

Now, this was the most unique driver I’ve tested this golf season. And how ironic that I would be testing an unconventional tee (Zero Friction tee) on this day? But after playing a round with the new Ti-Carbon driver from the Feel Golf Company, I became a believer in its technology.

Let’s start at the top. Perhaps the most unique feature of this new stick, labeled as the "Triple Threat" by Feel, is the Full Release grip, winner of the Top Discovery of the Show at the 2004 PGA Merchandise Show. The design features a thicker width at the bottom of the grip – it produced some nice results, but it still felt pretty funky. Feel says this grip allows a golfer to fully release the club and attain maximum club head speed, thanks to the TaperTip design.

Feel Golf forwarded a 10-degree 430cc driver, and it was plenty of club, producing long drives of high trajectory. The driver head was heavier than any 460cc driver I’ve played, but the face produced a very soft feel and sound upon impact. Feel Golf uses the hardest titanium available, and combines it with carbon matrix, copper, nickel and other alloys for feel and performance. The face may be hard, but its surface is soft and it feels like no other club on the market.

The grip provided a few challenges for me – it is revolutionary – but I did get accustomed to it, and by the end of the round was hitting huge drives, right on target.

Apparently, this driver was a fan favourite at the recent PGA Show in Las Vegas. I won’t argue: this club’s a winner. See for yourself at www.feelwedges.com.
