Review: Bite Orthosport Biofit 2T Golf Shoe, by Jeffrey Reed

There’s a reason Bite golf shoes are the official shoes of London Ontario Golf: I’m a special-needs golfer who demands support and performance from the ground up. First, Bite released the Journey, a cross trainer type of shoe with supportive arch and heel, extra collar and tongue padding for added comfort, large rounded toe box for even more comfort, plus waterproof properties – all in a lightweight shoe.

As a low-handicap golfer with club feet and degenerative spine, the Journey stood the test of time. Make way for Bite’s Orthosport line of high-performance, modern-designed golf shoes. A high-tech design make these shoes, in my opinion, not only the most comfortable shoes around, but also the top performers from tee to green. My personal choice: the Biofit 2T, boasting an athletic Euro look, wide toe for comfort, and more performance features than a Swiss Army Knife.

I must admit, when I learned that Bite was discontinuing its Journey line, I worried about its replacement. But no more. The OS line features an Orthosport outsole with wide toe box, forefoot grooves for natural foot flex, a low profile design to enhance ground feel, and Shockgrid cushioning under the footbed. There’s torsion control in the arch and heel, heel counters for lateral stability, and a beveled outsole to help promote a natural stride.

The moment I laced up the Biofit 2T golf shoe, it felt like I was stepping into a supportive pillow: these shoes are that strong, and that soft. The Biofit 2T is a heavy shoe in hand, but because of its design, its weight feels like a typical golf shoe weight when worn. Here’s the real beauty of these contemporary shoes: interchangeable footbeds. The Ortholiner is an advanced foam liner serving two purposes. For folks with smaller feet, the liner raises the foot within the shoe to decrease volume. Also, the Ortholiner improves comfort of 3/4 plastic orthotics. Simply place it underneath orthotics to ensure a smooth, comfortable transition within the shoe.

There are two interchangeable footbeds for use with the 2T shoe. The OS1 is a highly-cushioned footbed with a subtle pronation post, designed for neutral feet. The OS2 is an extra-supportive footbed with heel and arch frame, and cushioned topsole, designed for high arches or over-pronation.

It took me a few shopping excursions to get used to the Euro look (that’s the golf traditionalist in me), but once I slipped on these shoes, I was hooked.

The Bite Orthosport Biofit 2T golf shoe carries a suggested retail price of $149. For more information on this shoe and others from Bite, visit www.biteshoes.com.
