Equipment Review:
Sumi-G Headcovers
by Jeffrey Reed, Editor, LondonOntarioGolf.com
When a new golf accessory oozing both class and functionality hits the market, it stands out like a Tiger Woods stinger off the tee. Here’s a new product from Utah-based Sumi-G – the SumiG Headcover – that provides both style and function from tee to green. In fact, when your clubs are in view of the window seat you have at the 19th hole, you just may want to invite them in for a drink, they’ll look so good.
The Sumi-G Headcovers are hard headcovers with a pivot-style hinge which opens and slips on with ease. Forget about tugging on that too-tight headcover for your 460cc driver. The Sumi-G Headcover can be lifted off or picked up off the ground simply by extending your club and inserting the head into the hinged cover. It’s strong, with a tough shell plus elongated neck for shaft protection.
Sumi-G translates to the spirit of Sumi-E art form as inspiration for stylish and smart golf products. Sumi-E is an ancient Asian art form of black ink painting, elegant clean lines and beauty, hence Sumi-G president Marius Kvinge’s borrowing of the art handle for his top-end clubcovers. A Norwegian, Kvinge is a golfaholic, and spent five years developing this product.
Currently available for RH clubs, the Sumi-G headcovers are listed as $28 for hybrid covers, $32 fairway and $38 driver. Learn more at www.sumi-g.com.
