Accessory Review:
FiZGOLF

Question: how do you clean the grooves of your wedge after pitching onto the green? Surprisingly, some of you may reply that you don’t (let’s just hope you clean your clubs after each round – that is, unless the country club takes care of that chore).
Most of us simply use a tee to clean the grooves, while others take the extra step and squirt a water bottle onto a towel for club cleaning.
Golf-specific cleaning products have come and gone, but there’s a new product on the market that’s creating quite a buzz. FiZGOLF, headquartered in Salt Lake City, Utah says it’s on track to exceed $1 million in sales during this charter year for its FiZ ball, grip and club cleaner.
The brainchild of inventor/entrepreneur Aaron Heap, known for inventing and patenting the revolutionary Seven2 kayak paddle nearly a decade ago, FiZ is a specially formulated cleaner dispensed via a small, dimpled Co2 spray cartridge. It’s marketed to yield more than 350 sprays, or more than 100 holes of golf.
“Many golfers don’t realize the impact even slightly dirty equipment can have on their game,” says Heap, FiZGOLF founder and president. “Grimy grooves and dirty dimples counteract today’s precision golf equipment. They can literally steal yards and accuracy from a shot. FiZ will get your gear clean, and clean gear will get you a better game.”
Using a formula designed to dissolve dirt and erase grass stains, FiZ comes in a bottle with its own bag clip and cleaning bristles. It eliminates spit shine, brushes, wet towels and tee box cleaners and offers a tidy cleaner in a sleek design.
We’re not sure what the chemists used to arrive at FiZ, but it works very well. We gave it the ultimate test – cleaning clubs after a session at the range on a wet day – and it performed admirably. The spray is powerful, and you don’t need much in order to get the job done.
Already, FiZGOLF says it is developing two additional cleaning products. If they clean as well as FiZ, then FiZGOLF may replace Jani-King as the official cleaner of the PGA Tour.
OK so that’s not going to happen, but for $9.99 per bottle, FiZGOLF can certainly help you clean up your game.
