Equipment Review: 4 Yards More Golf Tee
by Jeffrey Reed, Editor, LondonOntarioGolf.com

Today, there are more golf tees available than ever before, but a real trend towards less friction appears to be the key to longer, straighter drives. One of the newest players in the tee game is the 4 Yards More golf tee, the official tee sponsor of the 2008 PGA Merchandise Show in Orlando.

The 4 Yards More golf tee has already helped Champions Tour competitor Gil Morgan grab a winner’s cheque, at the 2007 Wal-Mart First Tee Open at Pebble Beach. Said Dr. Morgan, “I am hitting the ball further with better control. That is the edge I need on tour.” LPGA pro Jackie Gallagher-Smith said, “I’m driving it 10 yards more (with the 4 Yards More tee).”

The science behind the 4 Yards More tee makes sense. A dynamic elastomer crown holds the ball with less contact than a traditional wooden tee, thus there’s less friction at impact and concurrently lower spin for longer, straighter drives. The tee is also designed with a rigid polymer stake, plus a height gauge to allow for consistent tee depth.

The 4 Yards More tee promises 100-plus hits. I put it to the test at the range, and found no disfiguration after hitting close to 30 drives. I was long and straight, too. There are four sizes available: 1 ¾-inch Short Tee; 2 ¾-inch Standard Tee; 3 ¼-inch Driver Tee; and 4-inch Extreme tee.

The 4 Yards More golf tee comes in packages of four and carries a MSRP of $5.99. For more information, visit www.4yardsmore.com.
